Here’s something to toast to this summer- Main Street in Flemington will be home to a beer garden!

The Flemington Community Partnership, is working towards the concept in an effort to draw crowds to the town. Local breweries, like Conclave Brewing Company, are anticipated to participate.

Here’s what the organizers had to say about their goals:

We hope this project will serve two purposes. First, we hope to create an open community gathering space that will entice patrons to linger on Main Street and take a second look at our wonderful town. Second, we want to showcase our fine local businesses. During the times that the community beer garden is scheduled to run (working on firming these dates up), we hope to have local vendors offering their exceptional food/drinks.

Locals can currently vote for the name of the beer garden here. Options include:

  • Flemington Filling Station
  • Flemington Headquarters (HQ)
  • The Spark
  • The Gathering Spot

Local restaurants can also learn more about being a featured vendor at the beer garden by emailing Goodwin at jgoodwin@flemingtoncp.com.

Check out some more FAQs about the project below:

The building structure: The cost of rehabilitating the interior of the structure was too high, so the interior of the building will not be accessible. But Lowe’s is planning to restore the façade and make it shine once again for our visual enjoyment. It will be freshly painted the current colors the building is now: white, with red and blue trim. We also are hoping to put up a vertical pallet garden (great suggestion, Karen Monroy!) on one section of the building, and a chalk wall in a portion of the back of the building.

Liability: The property is fully insured by the Borough. Any necessary additional coverage for vending will be secured by vendors. We are aware of New Jersey’s dram shop laws and will abide by all state and local rules and regulations. Our vendors and FCP will be carefully monitoring the beverage sales and the behavior of those at the event and do our very best to help our patrons make good choices. Serving alcohol to minors will obviously be strictly prohibited and strictly enforced.

Restrooms: Portable toilets will be stationed on the premises during beer garden hours.

Who will be vending the alcohol and how will they be chosen? We are reaching out to our local entities in possession of liquor licenses and inviting them to vend at the beer garden. It is a fairly small number, and we will work with these vendors to coordinate a schedule. We’ll keep you all updated on our progress!

Breweries: We have two fantastic local breweries, Conclave and soon-to-be-open Lone Eagle Brewery. We would love to include them as featured vendors at the beer garden, but we may be restricted by ABC permit regulations. We are reaching out to these great businesses to discuss options with them.

Decorum/Noise: We will abide by all state and local rules and regulations, including noise ordinances. Patrons of the beer garden will be required to maintain a respectful decorum, and we will eject anyone who is overly disruptive. We are talking with the business owners and residents surrounding the property to ensure that their needs are respected.
