Whether its printmaking, painting or jewelry making, the Hunterdon Art Museum has the perfect class to shake off winter’s chill and fire up your creativity.
This winter, the Museum is introducing more than a dozen new programs, including many new workshops and classes for adults. All programs are taught by professional artists, educators or storytellers. Register by Dec. 31, and save $10 on most classes.

Open Studio: Artwork
For ages 10 to 15
Eight Tuesdays starting Jan. 12
Time: 5:30 – 6:45 p.m.
Tuition: $114 / $94 for members
Whether you are experienced with drawing and painting or just starting out, here’s the perfect class to explore traditional wet and dry materials including pencil, charcoal, pastels, watercolor and acrylic paints.
Meet the Masters: Painting and Drawing
Ages 4 to 6
Nine Thursdays starting Jan. 14
Time: 4:15 – 5:15 p.m.
Tuition: $155 / $135 for members
From Mary Cassatt to Henri Matisse, you’ll meet a famous artist each week in this ideal class for budding young artists.
CLASSES and WORKSHOPS FOR ADULTS
Monotype Printmaking Workshop with Stephen McKenzie
Sunday, Jan. 31
Time: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Tuition: $95; member $75 (plus $20 for materials)
At Raritan Valley Community College
Ideal for beginners and intermediate students, this workshop teaches how to use a variety of media to create beautiful prints without having the technical knowledge usually needed for other forms of printmaking.
Wine & Design: Paint Party with Linda Schroeder
For ages 21 and up
Friday, Feb. 12
Time: 6 – 9 p.m.
Tuition: $60 / $40 for members (BYOB; materials and snacks provided)
Discover your inner artist in a fun and creative atmosphere, while artist Linda Schroeder walks you through the steps of creating your own painting on canvas.
Painting: Introduction to Abstraction with Chris Muller
For adults and teens, 16 and up
Nine Wednesdays starting Jan. 13
Time: 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Tuition: $200 / $180 for members
Explore the elements of art and principles of design through abstract painting. Students will use acrylics and mixed media to express themselves using nonrepresentational methods.
