Jersey’s Hidden Retail Trail
When: Friday, November 8 through Sunday, November 24
Where: Select shops throughout Hunterdon County
Calling all shoppers! Go on an adventure and experience local hidden gems! For just $10 a ticket, you can follow a secret map at your own pace on a two-week self-guided trail. Experience and support small “mom and pop” businesses that you might not have known about. Collect free or discounted surprises, goods and treats from each stop. Shop, sip snack and explore what unique, local businesses have to offer. At every stop you make along the trail, you’ll be able to enter into a grand prize raffle what will be drawn after the two-week trail ends. Find out more here.
Empty Bowl Fundraiser for the Flemington Area Food Pantry
When: Friday, November 8 from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Where: St. Magdalen Church Community Center, Flemington
Enjoy a tasty lunch while helping those in need! The Empty Bowl is the Flemington Area Food Pantry’s main fundraiser. Lunch will feature delicious soups from local restaurants, a salad, a beverage, a dessert and a hand-thrown bowl from a local potter to take home to remind diners of those in our area who are food insecure. Restaurants supporting this community effort include Theresa’s Cafe, Chive and Thyme Catering, Matt’s Red Rooster Grill, Metropolitan Seafood, Basil Bandwagon, Lovin’ Oven, Dockside Market and Grill and ShopRite Kitchen. Vegan and gluten free soups are on the menu, and the first 500 diners are guaranteed an original ceramic bowl. A pottery sale to benefit the Pantry will also take place. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased at the door or in advance with payment by cash, check or credit card. Take out is also available. For more information click here or call 908-788-5568.
This is the 23rd year for the fundraiser to help over 3,000 local clients who are the unemployed and underemployed, veterans, children and seniors in our neighborhoods.
Hunterdon Bird Club Open Bird Walk
When: Saturday, November 9 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Where: Spruce Run Recreation Area, 68 Van Syckels Road, Clinton
This community bird walk is hosted by the Hunterdon Bird Club. Open to all, no experience needed. Meet at the Tower parking lot (1st right after the park entrance booths). Join for 15 minutes or 3 hours!
Community Trail Day at Bernadette Morales Nature Preserve
When: Saturday, November 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: Capner/Old Croton Road Junction, Raritan Township
Volunteers needed! Enjoy a day in the park while helping keep it beautiful! Hike, trim and mulch the trails. Bring gloves, rakes, shovels, clippers and/or wheelbarrows. Drinks, snacks and lunch will be provided. Call Sylvia at 908-552-8469 for more information.
Holiday Photos with Santa Rick and Team Velvet
When: Saturday, November 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Sunday rain date if needed.)
Where: Journey’s End Horse Farm, 79 Old Clinton Road, Flemington
Bring your family out to the farm for a unique Christmas photo opp. Santa Rick, an area favorite, will be posing with his Christmas horses from Team Velvet. Lead therapy horse Velvet will be dressed as Santa, Precious the Haflinger mare will play Mrs. Claus and the miniature horse, Little Annie, will be Elfkin. Bring your own camera to take photos with a $10 donation. There will also be a variety of holiday gifts available for purchase. This event is a fundraiser for Team Velvet, Inc. to support its mission of providing nonmounted equine therapy to help children overcome trauma.
Frosty and Rudolph at Music Mountain Theatre
When: Saturdays, November 9 – November 23 with shows at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Where: 1483 Route 179, Lambertville
Get in the holiday spirit with this kid-friendly show that’s a jolly new take on traditional holiday stories. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased here.
To Have and To Hold, A Frenchtown Wedding Crawl
When: Sunday, November 10 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Paper Floral Co., 17 Race Street, Frenchtown
Join a collection of Frenchtown-area event professionals for a wedding show unlike the others. Start by meeting selected vendors at a central location, then explore the unique retailers and restaurants in the charming riverside hamlet. There will be light bites, giveaways, prizes, demos and more. The more people you meet, the more drawing entries you’ll earn!
