Nine bands are on board to participate in an all-day Music Festival to benefit Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) on May 7th, noon to 3am, in Asbury, NJ (exit 11 off I-78 in Hunterdon County). 100% of the ticket sales ($10/person) will go directly to MDA.

During the past 60 years, MDA has led the fight against neuromuscular disease. Inspired by the personal story of a patron, American Spirits Roadhouse, Hunterdon County’s award-winning best live music venue, mobilized last month to put together a fundraiser for MDA to support the important work it does to find a cure for muscular dystrophy, ALS, and other related, life-threatening diseases.

One of the bands participating is led by renowned musician, Andy Browne. His band, Andy Browne Troupe, is dedicating May 7th as their CD Release Party to MDA, with songs produced by Dan Skye (Skylab Studios, NJ), Jay Grosse (1024 Studios), Clint Steele (Mary My Hope), and one from a world-recognized guitar talent, Peter Buck.

The musical pedigree is instantly recognizable, as Andy Browne has opened for the Clash (in Atlanta, GA at the FOX Theater), REM, Replacements, and has performed at the former CBGBs numerous times. He’s been at the Ritz, NY with Ray Beats, and has played with Peter Tork, RuPaul, Cheetah Chrome (Dead Boys), Lords of New Church, English Beat, and many more, including playing with Jim Carroll.

American Spirits Roadhouse, the winner of the 2016 Hunterdon Happening Lists for Best Live Music Venue, is an inspired, classic, and unique venue. American Spirits Roadhouse is proud to be able to officially dedicate May 7th to benefit MDA. “There are so many talented musicians in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York, who go the extra mile to feature their music at local establishments, and we are thrilled to have these 9 extraordinary bands on board for the day at our venue,” said René Rigau, co-owner and GM of American Spirits Roadhouse. “This event is designed to showcase musicians’ extraordinary contribution to our lives through their talent, and to help point community members toward an organization that is so deserving of our support.”

With a nightclub-quality sound system that has bands and booking agents calling American Spirits Roadhouse to secure dates, given that it features music 4 nights per week along with a sound engineer on premises; an incredible experience is assured for both the musicians and for the customers. “To be able to partner with MDA fits right into our mission statement of being a community-focused establishment,” said Pete D’Costa, co-owner.

In addition to Andy Browne Troupe’s musicians, special thanks for the upcoming CD release include: Annie Marcelino, Kelly Creed, and Jennifer Geipel Browne.

In conjunction with the all-day event, attendees will be able to enjoy dishes from American Spirits Roadhouse’s new spring menu that launches May 1st, taking advantage of seasonal ingredients and locally sourced food. Between the seriously good food, 20 beers on tap, great drink choices, and live music, it’s sure to be an unforgettable day for a good cause.
