Celebrate the past, present, and future of Stockton at #StocktonFest2017 August 26 – August 27, 2017. The celebration corresponds with the 150th anniversary of the Stockton Presbyterian Church (22 South Main Street, Stockton, New Jersey).
A town of many names – Stockton was first known as Reading Ferry, Howell’s Ferry, Centre Bridge Station and late Stockton with the creation of a local post office and railroad station in 1853. The town was ultimately named in honor of U.S. Senator Robert Field Stockton, who was instrumental in the creation of the Delaware and Raritan Canal. The quaint town remains largely unchanged from it’s roots, with buildings like The Stockton Inn and Prallsville Mills dating back to the 18th century.
