Last month’s catwalks have given way to this fall’s fashion trends. But there’s no need to travel to New York City to get the latest style cravings. Here’s what’s hot and where to go in Hunterdon County to find them:

This fall’s catwalks saw the return of beauty classics such as smoky eyes, matte red lipstick and outdoorsy blush reimagined with modern twists such as graphic shapes, neon flashes, and glitter sprinkles. Nails

Subtlety meets excess when it comes to fall nail trends. Pearls glued to sheer nude nails, metallic stripes swiped across a matte base, and logo nails that are less in-your-face. Rich berry shades are a fall staple, along with terracotta accents, remixed French tips and animal prints. Hunterdon Happening List Winner Serenity Nails in Clinton can set you up with any of those trends, throwing in a citrus massage at a cost that won’t bust your purse.

Hair

This fall, barrettes, center parts, curtain bangs, low ponytails and braids are in. For men, French crop haircuts. Hunterdon Happening List Winner CUT artisan. hair. design. in Flemington sends its stylists to monthly classes to stay on top of the latest trends.

Men’s Clothing

Light-washed denim, rugby shirts, vintage watches, mismatched prints, corduroy, cropped pants, neck scarves and quarter socks top this year’s fall fashion list for men, according to Esquire magazine.  The Junto Emporium in Frenchtown specializes in vintage trends. Just ask GQ fashion model Michael Arenella, who is known to frequent the place.

Women’s Clothing

According to designers showcased at this year’s New York Fashion week, the ’90s are back. So are the ’80s (think shoulder pads) and the ’70s. Patchwork prints, school boy suits, plaid pants, animal prints and gold lame topped the runway, along with asymmetrical or square necklines. Try Hunterdon Happening List Winner for Women’s Clothing 39 Mine Boutique in Flemington for affordable fashion.

Footwear

Combat boots are making a comeback along with square-toed shoes and slouch boots in white or animal prints. Check out Hunterdon Happening List Winner Charlie’s Bootery in Clinton. Ask for Randy, the well-loved proprietor, according to Facebook fans.

Accessories

Accessories are one way to make last year’s fashions look like this year’s hottest trend. Swap out last year’s big bag for a bitty bag in snake print or crocodile texture. Belt a jacket or throw on a statement hat to make yourself a 2019 fall fashionista. Hunterdon Happening List Winner for Consignment Clothing Country Chic Boutique in Frenchtown has a nice selection of accessories that won’t break the bank.

This year’s go-to garb for fitness apparel include animal prints and leather-line sneakers, exercise dresses and high-waisted leggings. Check out Hunterdon Happening List Winner Pete’s Bike and Fitness Shoppe in Flemington for athletic wear that won’t leave you sidelined.
