porkrollDid you know that the popular sandwich topper, pork roll, was invented right in our own backyard?  This versatile protein, originally called Taylor Ham, was developed by John Taylor in Trenton NJ in 1856.  So it goes as no surprise to know that there is an annual pork roll festival there, which happened this past weekend.  The festival, which ran from 10am-10pm this past Saturday included live music, a recipe contest, the crowning of Miss Pork Roll Queen, as well as lots of beer and of course pork roll!  The next time you find your self saying  “I’ll have a pork roll, egg, and cheese” know that you are choosing a locally inspired dish and if you can’t get enough of the delicacy look out for the 2015 pork roll festival!
