WE ASKED KELLY…
What has inspired you to pursue your current career and/or passions?
After finishing cancer treatment many years ago, my life was forever changed. Surviving that journey left me with a deep sense of gratitude and an unshakeable desire to give back to others facing the same fear, uncertainty and pain I had experienced. When I began to work at Cancer Support Community Greater Philadelphia, I witnessed how compassion, connection, and support can truly transform lives. Seeing families feel less alone during their cancer journeys continues to remind me why this work matters so deeply to me.
Can you share a defining moment in your career that shaped your path?
When we opened our doors in Warminster in June 2003, the strong support of the community affirmed that this organization could make a meaningful difference for local families. Since then, our continued growth has been made possible by the dedication and generosity of our supporters. I knew at that point I was where I needed to be.
How do you define success?
For me, success earns working with integrity, staying true to our mission, and supporting our amazing and dedicated staff – without whom this work would not be possible.
What values guide your personal and professional decisions?
Hard work, honesty, and commitment, with a strong emphasis on collaboration through listening to and valuing our team’s ideas.
What are you most proud of today?
I am proud to give back to families in our community and grateful to work with an organization that supports others facing similar challenges. The fact that this organization has weathered so many challenges over the years and is still serving our community also makes me incredibly proud.
What does leadership mean to you and how do you embody it in your work?
Leadership means setting a clear example, providing opportunities for staff to learn and grow, and empowering them to contribute their strength in meaningful ways.
