Congratulations to Raymond Krov, the Hunterdon Central Regional High School District’s Business Administrator (BA)/Board Secretary, who has been named the 2014 School Business Administrator (SBA) of the Year by the New Jersey Association of School Business Officials (NJASBO). Krov, a resident of Milford, was honored at an award ceremony at NJASBO’s Annual Conference; he also was among this year’s six Distinguished Service Award winners drawn from across the state.
As SBA of the Year, Krov will have the honor of presenting two $1,000 scholarships from NJASBO in his name to two graduating seniors next year who will go on to attend college and major in a business-related area.
Krov has served as the BA for Hunterdon Central Regional High School since 2006. He has been a BA since 1992, serving previously at Somerset Hills Board of Education, Watchung Board of Education, and Garwood Board of Education. Krov also was the Chief Financial Officer for the Borough of Flemington from 1992 to 2000, and for the Borough of Watchung from 1994 until 1999.
In nominating Krov for the Distinguished Service Award, Corrine Steinmetz, President of the Hunterdon/Warren Association of School Business Officials noted that Krov “has given the position of School Business Administrator a positive and well-respected reputation, during a time when it can be challenging to keep up in a fast and every-changing profession.”
Krov is respected among his peers for his camaraderie, his ability to get things done, and his willingness to lend assistance. He has trained as a mentor for aspiring business administrators.
Through his persistence, Hunterdon Central has been awarded 26 ROD grants, saving the district more than $5.5 million in construction costs.
In addition to being a member of NJASBO, Krov is an active member of the Hunterdon/Warren ASBO, a member of ASBO International, and a past president (2003-2004) of Somerset County ASBO. Krov currently is a member of the Holland Township Committee; he has served a total of 12 years on school boards in Holland and Clark Township – five years as president. His other community volunteer efforts are extensive and include the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Holland Township Soccer League, and the SPF Youth Baseball Association.
Krov holds a bachelor’s degree in business with a major in accounting and an MBA in finance from Seton Hall University. He has a master’s degree in vocational-technical education from Rutgers – the State University. Krov has taken graduate courses in Educational Finances and Resources, School Business Management and Accounting, and School Building Planning at Kean University, and Educational Administration and Educational Law at Montclair State University. In addition to being a certified SBA, Krov also is a Qualified Purchasing Agent, a certified Municipal Finance Officer, and a licensed Tax Collector.
Krov is happily married to his wife, Kathy, and has two adult children, Linda Rae and Raymond. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, swimming, and doing yard work.
