There is no shortage of Halloween fun happening throughout Hunterdon County! Surrounded by historic towns and spacious farms, there are plenty of ways to embrace the terror of this haunted holiday. Check out 3 places to get started:
1.. Clinton Haunted Village: Are you brave enough to come face to face with a serial killer? Come if you dare, join the Watertown Police Department’s investigative team to profile the recent crime scenes and predict the killer’s next move, before he strikes again. Covering over 9 acres of truly haunted terrain, the Haunted Village offers 3 horrifying adventures for one price. The Red Mill Museum Village is proud to present for your en-frightment, the 2013 Halloween season: “Twisted”..The mind of a serial killer.
The 23rd Annual Haunted Village will take place at the Historic Red Mill Museum Village in Clinton, New Jersey. Performances are scheduled for 6 nights: October 11, 12, 18, 19, 25, and 26. As there are special outdoor lighting effects, it is critical the show not begin until it is dark (approximately 6:30 pm). Pre-purchased tickets are available now online only at www.theredmill.org- pre-purchase tickets will NOT be available at the Red Mill Museum Office for the 2013 season. The ticket window will open on performance nights at 5:00 pm and will close at approximately 10pm.
2. Roxey Ballet Presents Bram Stoker’s Dracula: Roxey Ballet is staging a spectacular production of Bram Stokers “Dracula”. RB’s original ballet choreography closely follows Bram Stoker’s horror story set in 18th century England and tells the tale in a theatrical performance with dazzling pyrotechnic, sound and lighting effects.
A kaleidoscope of music depicts the range of characters and their emotions of fear, rage, horror, love and passion. The result is a production that breaks through the normal boundaries of dance performance to draw the audience deeply into the world created by the dancers and the story.
The audience will recognize the unwary Renfield who accidentally falls victim to the vampire on his way to the opera; the lovely Lucy, whose beauty attracts Dracula, who seduces her; and Dr. Van Helsing who leads the attack to rescue Lucy and the others who have fallen prey to the vampires.
Dracula features choreography by Mark Roxey set to a collage of original music and sound effects by David Hanoman. The performance also features sound, special effects, video art and multimedia projection. The set is designed by Lisa McMillan of New Hope Pa.
3. Frightfest at Schaefer’s Farm: Spend 45 minutes making your way through 200+ acres of Fright. It starts with a Hair Raising Hayride that “Scares the YELL out of You”, and then a Treacherous Trek through the “Trail of Terror”. Just when you think you have had enough, you’ll find the only way back is through the MassAcre Maize. Finally, enter your final Nightmare, the Carnival of Chaos!
