Summer is the season for farmers markets. They are the best place to get local and organically grown produce, locally crafted beverages, baked goods and even homemade soap. If you haven’t already, be sure to visit a local market before the season is over. Here’s a list of some of the best farmers markets in Hunterdon County.
Hunterdon Land Trust Farmers Market, Happening List Winner
When: Every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. from May 19 through November 24
Where: Dvoor Farm, 111 Mine Street, Flemington
Why we love them: At this producers-only market, you’ll find organic fruits and veggies; all-natural beef, chicken and pork; cheeses; honey; artisan breads; locally roasted coffee and more. Plus, there’s yoga, live music, and activities for kids every week.
Lauber Brothers Farm & Country Market, Happening List Finalist
When: Closed Mondays; Tuesday – Friday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: 311 County Road 513, Frenchtown
Why we love them: While Lauber Brothers Market isn’t a farmer’s market with a collection of vendors like the others on this list, you know that you’re getting the freshest produce possible. The family-operated farm and farm stand is run by two brothers, who are also firefigthers with the New Jersey Forest Fire Service. Their sweet corn is always a favorite, and you’ll want to check out the sunflower maze that’s opening soon!
Stockton Farmer’s Market, Happening List Finalist
When: Friday, 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: 19 Bridge Street, Stockton
Why we love them: This year-round community market is indoors, offering a nice alternative to the traditional outdoor markets. No worrying about rainy or super hot days! Check out the website for a list of events such as live music on Friday nights and yoga on Sunday mornings.
Stangl Factory Farmers Market
When: Every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: 50 Stangl Road, Flemington
Why we love them: This is another year-round, indoor market. Stangl Factory Market features over 30 artisan vendors in a unique atmosphere. Look forward to locally-sourced produce, grass-fed meats, artisan breads and cheeses, pastured eggs, and more. Plus, there’s a fine selection of crafts, including turned wood, handspun yarn, and homemade soaps and bath products.
