The vast farmlands of Hunterdon County attract stargazers seeking the best views of the night skies, but one amateur astrologist in Sergeanstville, New Jersey got a glimpse an out-of-this-world view through his camera lens last night. The Instagram user was quick to snap a picture of an odd shape seen in the night skies.

The amateur astrologist, Lauren Stanford who works as a 5th grade science teacher during the day and lives in nearby Stockton, admits that at first glance, she assumed the shape to be a cloud. She was taking advantage of the mild spring evening to test out the new telescope that she received as a gift during Christmas. Her curiosity grew, though, as she spotted oddities through her AstroVenture telescope.

“The surface of the object definitely was not a cloud. It had a hard shell and dozens of tiny antenna-like objects fastened protruding from the surface,” explains Lauren who admits that she finds this all quite hard to wrap her head around. “I know I sound crazy. I don’t know what it was. I just know I’ve never seen anything like it before.”
