With the warm weather finally looking like it’s here to stay, it’s time to refresh your look for spring and summer, starting from the top down. We checked in on the latest in hair and beauty trends with Zanya Gissler, an expert in both the fashion and beauty industries and owner of the award-winning, Lambertville-based Zanya Spa Salon. Below are a few of the biggest trends spotted at Zanya Spa Salon this spring:

Balayage Highlights

Balayage – French for “to sweep” or “to paint” – is the hottest trend in hair coloring right now and the best technique to achieve natural, soft lines, resulting in sun-kissed highlights that grow out more naturally with less noticeable re-growth. Zanya Spa Salon has been ahead of the trend thanks to Todd Fox, their resident master colorist and director of education. Balayage allows the colorist to utilize their artistic talent to create an extremely personal and unique result every time. Todd brought the technique back from New York in 2007 after his tenure at Frederic Fekkai. Todd’s work was voted “Best Back from the Beach Highlights” by Town & Country Magazine.

Texture

Super smooth is out; this year is all about getting a little wild with texture or embracing your natural wave or curl. The best way to achieve it is to just go with the flow. Zanya says to skip the hair dryer once in a while and let hair air dry naturally or sleep in braids to achieve textured, natural-looking waves the next morning. If Mother Nature didn’t bless you with texture, try out a razor cut to add some desired fierceness to both long and short styles. Zanya stylists are trained in mastering the razor cut to add breeziness, depth and seamless layers. To add texture to an existing style, Zanya recommends one of the three new texture products from Oribe, available at the salon, or the old tried and true Dry Texture spray used as a finish to absorb oil and build volume right at the roots.

Re-usable Hair Extensions

It’s difficult to recreate current popular celebrity styles that require a ton of full, long hair. What stylists at Zanya recommend are the Halocouture Halo® Extensions for those who want something that is not only easy to install but easy to wash and style. These extensions are made from 100% human hair and sit on top of the head like a “halo” in existing hair with a comfortable wire system that keeps it firmly place but allows for easy removal each night before bed.

Oxygen Facials

Youthful skin is always in vogue. The estheticians at Zanya Spa Salon use the Intraceuticals Oxygen Facial to keep their client’s skin fresh and glowing. In these non-invasive treatments, pressurized oxygen is used to infuse age-defying ingredients like botanicals, vitamins and antioxidants into the skin. Oxygen facials improve the appearance of skin by softening wrinkle and expression lines, improving elasticity, brightening the complexion, and lightening dark circles in a painless, soothing process that will help turn back the stubborn hands of time.

Eyelash Extensions

Long, luscious lashes are on-trend. At Zanya, the in-house, certified lash specialists swear by Xtreme Lashes® to create fuller, longer, natural-looking lashes. The lashes are applied individually to existing hair, not to the skin, for long-lasting, safe results. With upkeep every two to four weeks, these lashes will last indefinitely through normal washing, blinking and flirty eye-batting.

Natural for Spring

Embrace the season and go au naturale. The “natural look” is also big in makeup right now with lashes and lips as the show-stoppers. The best way to achieve it is to start with flawless, dewy skin, then add peach or rose tones to the eyes and cheeks, brush on a few coats of mascara and finish with a bold lip.

Experience all of the above locally at Zanya Spa Salon, located in the Laceworks Building at 287 S. Main St., Suite 7, Lambertville, NJ.
