Several years ago, a newbie to Lambertville living at the time, I was loading the trunk of my car with a variety of items that needed transporting. Overly ambitious, I attempted to carry way too much and clumsily dropped an armful of items in the middle of North Union Street. It was mid-morning, and very quickly, two friendly strangers walked over to help me gather my belongings…or so I thought. It was about 30 seconds in when I noticed that one girl who had stopped to “help” was actually carefully looking through a crate of materials I had dropped.

An awkward 15 seconds later, I was introduced to the concept of Sparkle Week. Sparkle Week is an annual institution in Lambertville, spanning over 50 years, where one person’s trash becomes another person’s treasure.  Locals throughout Lambertville place their unwanted items curbside for others to re-discover and enjoy.  Of course, the mistaken stranger quickly returned my belongings after realizing the miscommunication and likely went on to discover much more interesting items around town!

Sparkle Week is returning to Lambertville during the second and third week of May.suitcases
