singleHave you ever dared to go on a date without make up?

Yeah, me neither.

Until recently.

Don’t think I’m crazy just yet. Hear me out. While preparing for a night out with a blind date through a friend, I found myself with only 15 minutes to prepare after a long day of work. That means I had to shower, decide what to wear, attempt to fix my hair, apply make up and throw on some accessories; all in a quarter of an hour. Completely and totally not possible. Right?

So I did the unthinkable. I didn’t apply my usual two coats of mascara or a thick layer of foundation or even a dab of lipstick. I went on the date with no make up on my face. Anyone who knows me would be shocked; I usually don’t step foot outside of my bedroom without at least a nice application of my favorite L’Oreal True Match. Even my roommate of 8 months has never seen me without my mask on.

The idea came to me, and I wanted to attempt the challenge. Thankfully, the night I decided to do this unthinkable mission I was blemish free, but I was sporting some rather large dark circles under my eyes. I guess it could have been worse. At least, that’s what I kept telling myself.

While driving to the date, I did a quick check in the rearview mirror of my face, and I must admit that I felt and looked horrid. Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea. Too late. I’ve already decided to go through with it.

As I entered the restaurant I saw my date standing in the lobby of the local pub, and as I approached him he said, “Wow, you look great! It’s so nice to finally meet you”. That was the first thing that came out of his mouth, and a huge smile spread across my face.

The date turned out to be a blast. Three full hours had flown by while we sipped some IPAs, stuffed our faces with nachos and proudly exchanged some cute photos of our cats. I can’t wait to see him again. He was a pure gentleman with an excellent sense of humor. In the beginning of the night the reason I didn’t wear make up was due to lack of time, but really in the end it helped me see if a guy could look beyond the typical “enhancements” to the female face, and he did, which I must admit provided a HUGE confidence boast!

Mission accomplished.

Girls, I challenge you to give this a try!
