Spring has sprung, but it’s time for the 33rd annual Shad Festival on April 26th & 27th. Admission is free, and Hunterdon County’s favorite fish – the Shad! – will be in attendance.
Hunterdon County’s favorite outdoor festival of the year runs from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. And is filled with all kinds of fun like the area’s finest artists and crafters, great food live music and family entertainment, but the two-day extravaganza also serves as a venue for local non-profit organizations to raise necessary operating funds.
Not only is the day filled with family fun, this event will feature musical performances by local performers such as Russell Norkevich, John Sonntag & The Tall Tones, Jazz by Ethan & Josh Fisher, Student Band The JARS– to name a few. Some of the sponsors include City of Lambertville, Hunterdon Medical Center Foundation, ING Financial Partners, Cutco Cutlery and Champion Home Exteriors.
In addition to the glorious music, the variety of food includes taco salads to fried Calamari, and favorites like shad chowder, hot dogs, fried oreos, hamburgers, fries and fresh lemonade. Face painting, sand art and fun and educational demonstrations near Lewis Island where the Delaware River Basin Commission will be teaching us about how to test water quality are also part of the event.
80 of the region’s finest artists and crafters featuring everything – jewelry, ceramics, furniture, apparel, accessories, home décor and more and Over 150 original art posters, created and donated by local artists, are on display during Shad Festival weekend in the recreation room of the First Presbyterian Church, 31 N. Union Street.
