Let your artistic talents bloom by enrolling in a class at the Hunterdon Art Museum this spring. The Museum is offering more than 50 classes and workshops for children and adults beginning in April. Explore photography, sewing, painting, drawing and more.

Here are a few highlights:

PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN & TEENS

Drawing & Painting 101 (Starts Monday, April 15, 4:30 p.m.): Whether you are experienced with drawing and painting or just starting out, here’s the perfect class to explore traditional wet and dry materials including pencil, charcoal, pastels, watercolor and acrylic paints. For ages 10 to 15.

Explorations in Clay (Starts Thursday, April 18, 4:30 p.m.): Learn the basics of working with clay in this fun introductory class. Kids will learn the techniques for making pinch pots, coil pots and slab projects. For ages 5 to 7.

The Art of Comic Narration (Starts Friday, April 19, 5 p.m.): From galaxies far, far away to the chaos of the high school lunchroom, everyone has a story to tell. Why not tell it through comics? The Hunterdon Art Museum is offering a new Comic Narration class where kids can hone their skills crafting comics and learning how to tell stories effectively through illustration. For ages 13 and up.

PROGRAMS FOR ADULTS

Beginner/Intermediate Watercolor Open Studio with Wendy Hallstrom (Starts Monday, April 15, 12:30 p.m.): Learn basic and advanced techniques using washes, controlled edges, glazing, expressive brush strokes and corrections to take your talents to a whole new level. For adults and teens ages 16 and up.

Fundamentals of Drawing with Margaret Fanning (Starts Wednesday, April 17, 6:30 p.m.): Learn how to use line, shape, and value to form a composition and how to use your observation skills to bring objects to life on paper. For adults and teens ages 16 and up.

Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for seniors and students; children under 12 are free.

The Hunterdon Art Museum presents changing exhibitions of contemporary art, craft and design in a 19th century stone mill that is on the National Register of Historic Places. Founded in 1952, the Museum is a landmark regional art center showcasing works by established and emerging contemporary artists. It also offers a dynamic schedule of art classes and workshops for children and adults.
