Celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Hunterdon Land Trust while enjoying a delicious full-course dinner at HLT’s annual Farm to Table Gala on Sunday, Oct. 9 at the Beaver Brook County Club.

Chefs Matt McPherson of Matt’s Red Rooster Grill, Marc Viscomi of the Fired Up Flatbread Co. and Julie Klein of Lovin’ Oven are combining their culinary talents to create a memorable dinner with ingredients provided by local farmers.

This year’s menu features seasonal farm-fresh food including:

• A cheese course of Bobolink Dairy & Bakehouse Drumm raw cow’s milk and cheddar cheese served with garlic herb wood-fired flatbread.
• Butternut squash, pear and onion soup featuring squash from Sandbrook Meadow Farm and pears from Sweet Valley Farms.
• A main course of Griggstown Farm Coq au Vin topped with Purely Farm bacon sauce. (A vegetarian dinner option will be available too.)
• Dessert features an apple spice cake prepared with Sweet Valley Farms’ apples with cream from Fulper Family Farmstead and butter from Bobolink Dairy & Bakehouse. There will also be a selection of coffees and teas from Fieldstone Coffee Roasters.

Apple Ridge Farms and Phillips Farms are also supplying ingredients for the dinner.

HLT will celebrate two decades of preserving more than 8,300 acres of land in the Hunterdon County area and present its first-ever Treasure Hunterdon Award to Roger Harris, a founder of the organization and its first president. Harris will be honored for his years of commitment to protecting and caring for the natural and cultural treasures that define and contribute to the high quality of life in Hunterdon County.

Proceeds from the gala benefit HLT’s efforts to protect the places you love in the Hunterdon County area.

The evening begins at 5 p.m. with a cocktail hour, live music with the Tom McMillan Trio and a silent auction. The auction features an array of enticing items including: gift baskets and certificates from Zanya Spa and Euphoria Spa; an overnight stay with breakfast at the Woolverton Inn in New Hope, Pa.; dinner for four courtesy of Metropolitan Seafood Co.; an HLT Farmers’ Market gift basket; a round of golf for four at the Beaver Brook Country Club; and a two-month couples membership at HealthQuest.

The Land Trust is also running a raffle and two lucky winners will receive a $250 shopping spree at its Farmers’ Market. Tickets cost $5 each and can be purchased at the Farmers’ Market through Oct. 9 or at the Gala. Winners will be announced at the gala.
