Birding for Beginners at the Hunterdon County Arboretum

When: Saturday, May 11 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Where: 1020 State Highway 31, Lebanon

Spring is a great time to get into birding!  In spring, many species of birds return to New Jersey for their summer nesting grounds, or migrate through the area on their way to colder sites.  Birds are colorful and fun to watch, and have beautiful songs.  They are the easiest form of wildlife to view year-round, and their numbers can indicate the health of the environment.  Join Senior Park Naturalist Laura Bush to participate in a short PowerPoint presentation on how to identify birds, and then take a walk outside to try to find some of our own.  Bring binoculars if you have them (also available to borrow).  For kids ages 8 and up or adults. Cost is $5 per person.

3rd Annual Beer and Bags Cornhole Tournament

When: Saturday, May 11 at 1 p.m.
Where: Califon Fire Company, 41 Main Street, Califon

Food and cash prizes will be offered at this fundraiser for the Dan Handy Memorial Fund. Entry fee is $50 per team. If you need to brush up on the game, consider attending the cornhole class offered by Hammer & Stain Central Jersey, 48 Main Street, in Flemington. Visit www.thepaintpartystudio.com for details.
