Art, music and a start to St. Patrick’s Day celebrations! Here are our picks for fun things happening this weekend in Hunterdon County.

Hunterdon Art Museum Member Highlight Show: Maureen Chatfield

When: Saturday, March 9 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. (on display until April 28)

Where: 7 Lower Street, Clinton

The Hunterdon Art Museum’s Member Highlight exhibition “Maureen Chatfield: Emotions Through Color” opens on Saturday, March 9. There will be a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. that everyone is welcome to attend. Chatfield’s work was selected from among 86 entries for the Museum’s juried Members Show in 2017. Most of the abstract paintings included in this exhibition come from Chatfield’s Ether and Landscape series. They are impressions of experiences, and the emotions attached to them. Disney’s The Lion King Kids Edition

When: Saturdays, March 9 through March 30 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Where: Music Mountain Theatre, 1483 RT 179, Lambertville

Based on the Broadway production, this 1-hour production of “The Lion King” is just right for kids that aren’t quite ready for a full musical. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased online here.

Wine, Art & Artisan Cheeses at Villa Milagro Vineyards

When: Saturday, March 9 and Sunday, March 10 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Where: 33 County Road 627 – Finesville, Phillipsburg

Enjoy an afternoon of wine, art and artisan cheeses! Villa Milagro Vineyards is hosting an event featuring four artists. There will be photographs, paintings, wearable art clothing and beautiful scarves made from antique kimonos. The artwork will be on display for your viewing pleasure as well as for sale. While you view the art, you can also enjoy samples of handmade cow and goat-milk cheese from Flint Hill Farm and a wine tasting from Villa Milagro Vineyards. Tickets are $15 at the door or $10 if purchased in advance online.

Celtic Music at Hunterdon Library

Where: Hunterdon Library North County Branch meeting room

65 Halstead St, Clinton

When: March 9 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Na’Bodach (Gaelic for “not old men”) finishes off the North County Branch Saturday Winter Concert Series with a celebration of Celtic music in time for St. Patty’s Day. Call (908) 730-6262 for tickets.

Hunterdon County St. Patrick’s Day Parade

When: Sunday, March 10 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Where: Main Street, Clinton

Hosted by the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick (FSSP), the 2019 Hunterdon County St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place on Main Street in Clinton on Sunday, March 10 at 3 p.m. The parade features more than 50 marching bands. including five pipe and drum bands and the North Hunterdon High School Marching Band. An all-ages after party hosted by the FSSP will be held at the Red Mill Museum.

St. Patrick’s Day Festivities at Red Mill Museum

When: Sunday, March 10

Where: The Red Mill Museum Village, 56 Main Street, Clinton

After the parade, join the St. Patrick’s Day festivities at the Red Mill Museum which include activities, crafts, treats and traditional Irish fiddle music.

St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations at Cryan’s Tavern

When: Sunday, March 10

Where: 2 Beaver Avenue, Annandale

Cryan’s has two weekend of St. Patrick’s Day celebrations! Come in Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. for breakfast before the parade, then the Celtic Rebel Band performs after the Clinton St. Patrick’s Parade.
