Hunterdon Happening’s Weekend Picks: December 7 – December 9

Are you in the holiday spirit? There are so many events to get you feeling festive in Hunterdon County, so we’re highlighting just a few of our favorites each weekend. High Bridge Fire Department Santa Gift Delivery

Drop Off Date #1: December 7 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Delivery Date #1: December 8, starting at 4 p.m.

Drop Off Date #2: December 14 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Delivery Date #2: December 15 starting at 4 p.m.

Where: 7 Maryland Avenue, High Bridge, NJ

Santa will deliver gifts right to your house riding on a fire truck! Bring a wrapped gift (1 per child) to High Bridge Fire Department, and Santa will bring it to your home the following day. “A Charlie Brown Christmas” at Music Mountain Theatre

When: Saturday, December 8 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Where: 1483 RT 179, Lambertville

See the stage adaptation of the classic television special starring the Peanuts gang. Tickets are $8.

River Union Stage’s 10th Annual “Say Humbug to Hunger” Reading of “A Christmas Carol”

When: Saturday, December 8 at 7:30 p.m.

Where: Presbyterian Church of Milford, 70 Bridge Street, Milford

Get into the holiday spirit by attending a reading of a Christmas classic. River Union Stage will present their 10th annual reading of Charles Dickens’ A CHRISTMAS CAROL. The performance will take place with the generous support of Shop Rite of Hunterdon and as part of the Christmas in Milford celebration. Everyone who attends the reading will receive a 10% discount good at nearly a dozen shops and restaurants in and around Milford. Presented in reader’s theatre style, audiences will have the opportunity to experience the beautiful prose narrative as well as the more familiar dialogue of Dickens’ classic work. Admission is free with a donation of a non-perishable food item. The Presbyterian Church will distribute the food donations to food pantries in Milford and Frenchtown.

Whitehouse Wind Symphony Free Holiday Concert

When: Sunday, December 9 at 3 p.m.

Where: The historic courthouse at 75 Main Street in Flemington

The band first gave a holiday performance at the historic courthouse in 2011, and remains the first and only ensemble to do so in the courthouse’s 190 year history. This particular concert is made possible through the support of the Flemington Community Partnership and Mediatech Foundation. After the concert, you can head outside to enjoy the Flemington holiday parade. Parking is located behind the courthouse and in several other nearby lots. Hunterdon Holiday Parade

When: Sunday, December 9 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Where: Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822
Bring your family for a chance to celebrate with the community! The 2018 Hunterdon Holiday Parade is scheduled to start is at 5 p.m.

Washington Crossing Reenactment

When: December 9, 2018 – 10 a.m.-4 p.m. (actual crossing at 1 p.m.) – $8 for adults, $4 for children ages 5-11, free for children younger than 5
Where: Washington Crossing Historic Park, 1112 River Road, Washington Crossing

Every December, the Friends of Washington Crossing Park organize the reenactment of the Christmas Crossing, when George Washington and his men crossed the Delaware on Christmas Day. Come and see authentically dressed military reenactors as they row across the river in replica Durham boats to celebrate our nation’s history. Be sure to arrive early to get a good viewing space along the water! In addition to the crossing reenactment, special colonial-era activities and demonstrations in the Historic Village will offer a full day of family fun and learning.
