The Hunterdon County YMCA recently honored 6 volunteers at its 2014 Volunteer Recognition Event on March 26 at Stanton Ridge Golf Club. Meet these Happening Hunterdon-ites:

  • Justin Lax of Philadelphia, PA and Patrick Cecilian of Brooklyn received the Bowden, Byrnes, McCormick Dedication Award for financial development. Justin and Patrick produced a video for the Hunterdon County YMCA featuring the testimonials of Y members and friends. The video has been instrumental in helping to educate the community on the mission of the Y.
  • Patricia Schriver, of Lebanon Township, received the George Hoffman Humanitarian Award, for outstanding service. As a member of the Lebanon Township Committee, Patricia has been a long-time supporter of the Hunterdon County YMCA and particularly, the Y’s Active Older Adult Center.
  • Bart Fellin, of Raritan Township, received the Harris & Betts Smith Distinguished Service Award, for significant enthusiasm and support. As a member of the Board of Trustees for more than 9 years, Bart has been involved in countless committees and special events. Most recently, he successfully led the organization through a strategic planning process.
  • Ellis Stanton, of Bloomsbury, received the Ralph Muzzey Youth Leadership Award, for youth exemplifying leadership skills. As a Counselor in Training, Ellis went above and beyond what was expected of her. She always modeled the YMCA’s character values of honest, respect, responsibility and caring.
  • Loretta Allen, received the Volunteer of the Year Award. As a volunteer with the YMCA’s martial arts program, Loretta has volunteered several hundred hours for the benefit of the youth in the program.

“The fact that our very valued volunteers share their talents with the YMCA allows us to continue with our mission of helping people grow in spirit, mind, and body, to build relationships and to live healthy lifestyles,” said Bruce Black, President/CEO.
