Hunterdon County World Music Day will arrive in Flemington on October 1st. From 10am to 5pm at Deer Path Park, this free family friendly music festival will feature music from around the world. Four different venues around the 104-acre park will hold performances, interactive workshops, and jam sessions.Alphorns of Hunterdon

World Music Day will also host a variety of food vendors as well as an “Instrument Petting Zoo.” Bring blankets or chairs for picnic style seating.

This event is being organized by The Hunterdon County Cultural and Heritage Commission with assistance from Hunterdon County Parks. Financial support for the Hunterdon County Cultural and Heritage Commission’s general operations and programs is made possible in part by a grant from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.

Main Stage Performances include:

Alphorns of Hunterdon: Swiss/German/Austrian Alpine Horn Music

Bronwyn Bird (nyckelharpa) and Justin Nawn (guitar): Swedish and Appalachian Traditional

Groove Merchant Drum and Dance Ensemble: Near East/African/American Fusion

Sangha: Indian/American/African Fusion

The River City Healers: American Traditional, Gypsy Jazz, Eastern European Folk

Interactive kid friendly music programs by Andy Wasserman, including “The World Music Experience,” a Native American Music Workshop, and “Voyage to Bongoland”

Jam Sessions, with complimentary instrument, will be available for those who wish to participate. include:

  • An African Drum Circle with Jim Davidson
  • A Traditional Irish Session with Diarmuid MacSuibhne
  • A Bluegrass Jam Session with Daniella Fischetti and Tim Ryan of Hub Hollow
