Tis’ the season! Hunterdon County is prepping for the most wonderful time of the year! Tree lightings, holiday performances, parades and more are all in the lineup for this year’s Holiday Season. Get into the spirit of the season and check out our list of Hunterdon County’s upcoming events, party catering ideas and spots to get your Christmas tree:

Holiday Events: 

Princeton Tree Lighting Ceremony

When: Friday, November 23 from 4:45 p.m.  to 6 p.m.
Where: On the Green, Downtown Princeton, NJ
Bring your family for an event that will feature live music and a reading of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, and marvel as the 32,000 lights covering a 65-foot Norwegian spruce are illuminated.

Roxey Ballet Presents “The Nutcracker”

When: November 24 at 2 p.m., November 25 at 2 p.m., November 30 at 10 a.m. (school show), December 1 at 1 p.m. (sensory-friendly performance), December 1 at 4 p.m. and December 2 at 2 p.m.

Where: The College of New Jersey’s Kendall Main Stage Theater, 2000 Pennington Road, Ewing, NJ

Roxey Ballet will present its 24th annual performance of Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker.” This year’s cast features recognized community leaders performing alongside the company’s roster of world-class artists. Princeton Pro Musica will sing carols before the performance begins. This family-friendly performance is a great way to introduce ballet to children and get the entire family in the Christmas spirit. Delaware River Towns Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting

When: Sunday, November 25 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. (Tree lighting 6:30 p.m.)
Where: Parade begins at Union Square at 5:30 p.m., tree lighting at the Logan Inn
The Delaware River Towns Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau cordially invites you to attend the 2018 holiday party and year-end meeting. And don’t forget to stick around for the fireworks finale!

Hunterdon Holiday Parade

When: Sunday, December 9 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Where: Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822
Bring your family for a chance to celebrate with the community! The 2018 Hunterdon Holiday Parade is scheduled to start is at 5 p.m.

Christmas on the Farm at Howell Living History Farm

When: Saturday, December 1  from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Howell Living History Farm, 70 Woodens Lane, Lambertville, NJ
Listen to the jingle bells ring when the horses are hitched up for the morning trip to the woodlot, where visitors can help find the perfect tree for Howell Farm’s Christmas celebration. Stick around to greet St. Nick when he arrives to listen to the children’s Christmas wishes! In addition, families can participate in farmhouse tours, live music, wagon rides, and a children’s craft program. Pop by the Visitor Center for lunch, a gift shop, and a 2-seater sleigh perfect for taking family portraits. Parking & admission are free.

Festival of the Trees

When: November 23 – December 9, 2018
Where: Red Mill Museum Village, 56 Main Street, Clinton, NJ
Enjoy a wonderful family outing for all ages at the annual Festival of Trees, featuring a beautiful display of decorated trees, wreaths and centerpieces donated from members of the community. $10 admission. Free admission for Museum Members, children age 6 and under, and active military.

Winter Village at the Festival of Trees

When: November 24 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Where: Red Mill Museum Village, 56 Main Street, Clinton, NJ
A fun addition to the Festival of Trees, head to the first ever Winter Village, a special addition to the 2018 Festival of Trees in Clinton, NJ. This German-style outdoor holiday market features 40 local craft artisans, vintage peddlers, and food trucks (don’t worry, it’s tented and heated!) The cost is included with museum admission.

The Prallsville Mill’s Annual Holiday Party

When: November 25 from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: This unique, 10-building historic complex includes an 1877 grist mill, a 1790 linseed oil mill, an 1850 saw mill and a 1900 grain silo. Swing by on November 25th for fun activities including:
2:30-3 p.m. – Story Time with Anna P. Wyman
3-4:30 p.m. – Horse and carriage rides
5 p.m. – Santa arrives
5:30 p.m. – Tree lighting ceremony

Riverside Symphonia Musical Celebration of Christmas

When: Saturday, December 1 at 8 p.m.
Where: Our Lady of Guadalupe, 5194 Cold Spring Creamery Road, Buckingham, PA
Love Christmas music? Then this event is for you! Sing and dance along with classical, pop holiday, and traditional favorites from around the world.
Tickets are $35 (students are $15)

The North Pole Express

When: Saturdays and Sundays from November 17 to December 23

Where: Flemington Station, 80 Stangl Road, Flemington, NJ

BR&W’s North Pole Express is the perfect way to get the entire family into the Christmas spirit! Ride the train with Santa’s elves, meet Santa Claus, and enjoy hot cocoa and cookies. All trains depart Flemington Station. Allow about two hours for your visit.

Hunterdon Hills Ballet’s “Our Clinton Nutcracker”

When: Sunday, December 16, 2018, 1:00 pm

Hunterdon Hills Ballet proudly presents “Our Clinton Nutcracker!” Enjoy the familiar story of Clara and the Nutcracker, with a twist – the story is set in beautiful Clinton, NJ. The whole family will enjoy this fun take on a classic tale.

Princeton Festival of Trees

When: Wednesday, November 21, 2018 through Sunday, January 6, 2019
Open Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Morven Museum & Garden, 55 Stockton Street, Princeton, New Jersey

Get in the holiday spirit at Morven Museum! Wander through a juried collection of trees and mantles displayed throughout the museum’s galleries, upstairs and down. This year’s theme invites visitors to enjoy the newly reimagined first and second floor galleries, featuring trees inspired by 18th through 20th century decor.
Festival Of Trees included with Regular Admission $10.00; Free for Friends of Morven.

And don’t forget the Festival of Trees Holiday Party on Thursday, November 29 from 5:30 to 8 p.m.! This year’s festival will celebrate Holidays Through the Centuries at Morven.

Polar Express

Dickens’ Day

When: Friday, November 23 to Sunday, November 25

Where: Clinton, NJ
Dickens’ Day is an annual event that transforms Clinton into a Victorian village. Visitors will interact with Dickens’ characters as they stroll through downtown Clinton entertaining shoppers. The town will be beautifully decorated for the holidays and local artists and musical groups will be performing on every corner.

Brunch With Santa at Alstede Farms

When: December 2, 10 a.m. seating

Head to Alstede Farms for a hearty brunch and a visit with Santa Claus. Brunch consists of a delicious assortment of home cooked items along with beverages and dessert, after brunch, enjoy a scenic hay wagon ride wrapped in cozy blankets. Brunch is offered at the following reserved seating times: 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 1 p.m. Advance ticket purchase is required as space is limited.

Annual Christmas Delaware River Crossing Reenactment

FIRST CROSSING: December 9, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (actual crossing at 1 p.m.) No cost.
CHRISTMAS DAY CROSSING: December 25, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., cost is $8.00 for adults, $4.00 for children age 5 to 11, and free for those under 5. (Proceeds support future park programs).

Head to the banks of the Delaware River to watch the reenactment of General George Washington’s daring Christmas Day river crossing. During this family-friendly event, several hundred reenactors in Continental military dress listen to an inspiring speech by Washington and then row across the river in replica Durham boats.
