Virtual reality for your ears? Not only that, but The Art of Sound located in Lambertville, New Jersey is a place to make all your senses come to life in their sophisticatedly designed showroom! To give you a real taste of what the experience is like there, they will be hosting an event with special guest William Hammerstein II from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, bringing back to life the original sounds created by his grandfather and world-renowned writer and lyricist Oscar Hammerstein II.

Simply put, the Art of Sound concentrates on the unique experience one has the moment he or she walks in the door in their gorgeous 4,000 square foot space with beautiful, inviting sound-vignette environments interspersed throughout. What separates them from all other personal music experiences is their offerings of mostly Domestic & European state-of-the-art sound-making systems that can cost anywhere from just under $1,000 dollars for the most intimate, personal space to well over $100,000 dollars for the grandest of homes. They also work with restaurants, hospitals, and other venues to produce top-quality audio listening environments.

Just close your eyes and you will imagine a real-life concert in your home – as best described as the feeling you get as these sound curators’ custom fit your home with equipment that exceeds all your expectations for your personal listening experience. This also is a place where people can learn about new listening technology and trends, while even sharing knowledge – through their “All Things Digital” workshops, a stimulating and fun way to keep up with ever-changing trends. The Art of Sound is considered on the “inside” industry as a “go-to place” for music professionals of all sorts, from local musicians up through Grammy winners – you just never know which interesting music aficionado you will bump into there.

Aside from being a place to try out and purchase equipment, The Art of Sound also plans on introducing various interactive music experiences for clientele through special VIP evenings, showcasing anything from a local artist spotlight, to share their latest, pressed vinyl and even playing a song or two live, unplugged through listening parties of rare, lost recordings, discovered by sound archivists in France – an upmost rare and intimate time that isn’t easily replicated.

The nearest, upcoming sound event on March 23 hosts the grandson of Oscar Hammerstein II, William Hammerstein. His grandfather worked on The Sound of Music, King and I, and many acclaimed others. William Hammerstein’s event will showcase original musicals and greatest hits on The Art of Sound equipment. This experience is said to bring the show back to life in a unique way, almost like virtual reality but for the ears, says Art of Sound spokesperson, Mandee K. Hammerstein. At the event, there will be a meet and greet, hors d’oeuvres, and refreshments. It will include a documentary screening about Oscar Hammerstein II’s life and his life spent in Doylestown. It will include information about who inspired him and it will note the activism he was passionately involved with. There will be a “talk-back” afterwards for questions. There will also be information about the Hammerstein museum project happening in Doylestown.

If you love music, theatre, musicals, classics, the arts, history, or just in need of a good night of thoughtful entertainment and conversation, this event is for you! The cap for pre-registered guests is 35 people, so reservations can be made my calling The Art of Sound at (609)-483-5000.
