On June 14th, we commemorate the adoption of the American flag, which happened on that day in 1777 by resolution of the Second Continental Congress. The United States Army also celebrates the Army Birthday on this date; Congress adopted “the American continental army” after reaching a consensus position in the Committee of the Whole on June 14, 1775.

Just minutes away from the home of Betsy Ross and the birthplace of the first stitched symbol of America, flag day holds an even more special meaning.  On Friday, June 12, 2015, Flemington is celebrating Flag Day with a special concert, part of their Cultural series at the historic county courthouse. Starting at 5:30pm, set up your lawn chair, bring dinner and celebrate Flag Day with some patriotic music at an open-air concert in front of the Hunterdon County Historic Courthouse on Main Street. Featuring Marshall’s Dixieland Jazz Band, the Hunterdon Harmonizers Barbershop Chorus and the Whitehouse Wind Symphony.
