Hunterdon County is home to hundreds of amazing artisans, crafters, and farmers- a community that understand and appreciates the value of a “made-from-scratch” mentality.

Perhaps that is what attacted Ian Knauer and Shelley Wiseman to the quaint town of Stockton to open their Farm Cooking School last year. Tullamore Farms is a working 210-acre spread along the Delaware River with red barns and silos, a henhouse and chickens.

Every class at Tullemore Farms not only offers expert instruction but is a BYOB celebration of food.

Knauer spent nine years at Gourmet as a food editor and hosted a cooking show to PBS before moving to New Hope, Pennsylvania. Partner Shelley Wisemand was Gourmet Magazine’s Travel Food Editor and a recipe developer for 12 years and is the author of two cookbooks, her latest is Just Tacos.

They have transformed the once empty 1700s stone farmhouse into a working/teaching kitchen with a kitchen garden. Upcoming classes include a range of topics from Indian Cuisine to knife techniques to preserving the harvest.

Classes are for home cooks of every level- whether you want to learn the foundations of cooking or perfect your techniques. They are taught in a relaxed, hands-on environment. Ingredients directly from the farm and other farms close by.

In addition to the cooking schol, Tullemore Farms has recently renovated the farmhouse’s upper level to an apartment built for three and now rents it out at about $200 per night.
