Which type of communication would you prefer to engage in? That of the GIRAFFE, who represents heartfelt & compassionate communication…or that of a JACKAL, who commonly symbolizes reactive and demanding language? From an early age, especially during stressful situations at work & home, we’ve been conditioned to default into “jackal mode.” However, there is a better way! Learn and practice the habit of using authentic GIRAFFE language by participating in this 6-week course based on the book by Marshall Rosenberg, PhD.
Wednesday Evenings – September 11 to October 16, 2019 (class is closed after the 3rd week)

This class will inspire you to connect with yourself and others in a heartfelt way, with the result being positive and permanent transformation in all your relationships!
During class, we will 1) explore principles that support living a life of compassion, collaboration, and authenticity; 2) understand how words contribute to either connection or distance; 3) learn how to ask for what we want, how to hear others even in disagreement, and how to move toward solutions that work for all; and 4) share “power with others” rather than using “power over others.”
Class time consists of reading, discussion, exercises, role-playing, and watching videos that illustrate NVC in action.
We suggest that participants obtain a copy of the book Nonviolent Communication by Marshall Rosenberg and read Chapters 1 & 2 before the first class.
