Learn all about history mapping the American Revolution in New Jersey with John Allen at the next East Amwell Historical Society program on Friday, March 11 at 7 p.m. in the East Amwell Township Municipal Building.

“David Munn’s bicentennial publication Battles and Skirmishes of The American Revolution in New Jersey was ‘history mapped’ using Google Earth, a free geographic software,” Allen noted. ““Each entry has been located to the extent possible, and links provided to external websites so the user can access additional content explaining key events, locating monumented and marked sites, and understanding troop movement.

“The presentation, History Mapping the American Revolution in New Jersey, provides an historical perspective on the ebb and flow of military events between 1774 – 1783 in both Hunterdon County and throughout the state. The program will also demonstrate how to download and use the software,” he added.

Allen is a member of the East Amwell Historical Society and the township’s Historic Preservation Committee. He also volunteers for the Hunterdon County Historical Society. He’s a retired petroleum geologist who has lived and worked on three continents mostly for Shell Oil Company.

No reservations are required, and the program is free. East Amwell’s Municipal Building is located at 1070 Route 202/31. Refreshments will be served.
