A panel of experts partnered with 10Best editors to picked the initial 20 nominees, and the top 10 winners were determined by popular vote.
Here’s what they had to say about the third Best Small Town in the Northeast:
Scenic Clinton straddles the Raritan River, its two halves joined by a 19th century iron bridge connecting a pair of historic gristmills. The bridge offers stellar views of the town’s 200-foot-wide waterfall, and the two mills now house Red Mill Museum Village and the Hunterdon Art Museum. Cafes, galleries and specialty shops line Clinton’s Main Street.
Another local destination – New Hope, PA – took second place.
