Meet Patrick at each location and he will introduce you to the beauty of the parks as he inspects the trail systems.  He will tell you the history of each park as you get some fresh air and exercise.  Then come back on your own to hike the trails at your leisure.  These trails are easy to moderate hikes.

Instructor: Chief Park Naturalist Tom Sheppard and naturalist staff

Meet the interpretive staff of the County Parks Division at each park for an early morning stroll or an afternoon walk.  We will look for the spring migrants and local breeding birds of the county.  We will use both eyes and ears to determine which birds are in abundance, as well as to observe other signs of the spring season.  This is a great chance to brush up on your song identification skills.  If you have your own binoculars, feel free to bring them, but they are also available to borrow.

Come outside for a day!  Do you miss summer?  Join park staff for a day of nature fun over spring break!  We will revisit traditional favorites such as a stream study, shelter building, and s’mores.  Please bring a lunch and a refillable water bottle.  Please wear sturdy close-toed shoes and dress for the weather, as we will meet rain or shine.  Bring closed-toed water shoes for the stream and other shoes/pants to change into afterward.

Instructor: Chief Park Naturalist Tom Sheppard and naturalist staff

Meet the interpretive staff of the County Parks Division at each park for an early morning stroll or an afternoon walk.  We will look for the spring migrants and local breeding birds of the county.  We will use both eyes and ears to determine which birds are in abundance, as well as to observe other signs of the spring season.  This is a great chance to brush up on your song identification skills.  If you have your own binoculars, feel free to bring them, but they are also available to borrow.

Meet Patrick at each location and he will introduce you to the beauty of the parks as he inspects the trail systems.  He will tell you the history of each park as you get some fresh air and exercise.  Then come back on your own to hike the trails at your leisure.  These trails are easy to moderate hikes.

Virginia Bluebells are one of America’s favorite wildflowers.  Native to our area, they bloom for a few weeks in early spring, and “hide” later in the summer.  They are also deer- and critter-resistant!  Explore Bernadette Morales and Uplands Reserve to enjoy the bluebells, stroll along a bubbling brook, and see the ruins of the estate of Judge Large (a prosecutor in the Charles Lindberg case).  This is a moderately hilly hike, about three miles in total.  Meet at the parking lot of Bernadette Morales Nature Preserve, 103 Capner Street, Flemington.
