It is great for the body and is a ‘feel good‘ workout for your mind. Zumba classes will get you started on becoming healthier and achieving your fitness goals.

What Should I Wear To Class?

Wear comfortable clothing and shoes that give you support. The studio requests that all shoes be worn ONLY indoors to be eligible for use in the facility. A water bottle and sweat towel are also good things to bring with you.

What shape do I have to be in to take a Zumba class? Do you offer an advanced or beginner class?

Zumba is for all shapes, sizes, and fitness levels. We do not offer classes based on beginner level or advanced level. Zumba should be easy enough for all to follow along. Does this mean you will perform all moves with precise execution at your first few classes? Absolutely not.
The goal is for YOU to have fun, and as you continue to attend class you will get more of a workout increasing your strength, mobility, and fitness level without plateauing. Modifications are easily made for students who need higher or lower impact levels.

It consists of a wide combination of techniques sourced from aikido, judo, boxing, and wrestling, along with realistic fight training.  Krav Maga is known for its focus on real-world situations and efficient counter-attacks. Derived from street-fighting skills developed by martial artist Imi Lichtenfeld, Krav Maga has been refined for civilian, police and military applications.

Krav Maga encourages students to avoid confrontation. If this is impossible or unsafe, it promotes finishing a fight as quickly as possible.  Attacks are aimed at the most vulnerable parts of the body, and training drills provide maximum safety to students by the use of protective equipment and the use of reasonable force.

From an early age, we are ingrained with concepts such as stranger danger, bully defense, and college campus safety.  The tactics and self-defense techniques we teach are effective, and potentially lethal.  With that being said, respect is a life skill deeply valued by our certified instructors.  As such, our Krav Maga classes, as should all, promote the concept that a peaceful resolution should be the intention in any conflict situation. Canoeing Hunterdon’s Waterway with Hunterdon Parks
Oct 7 @ 8:15 pm – 8:30 pm

Join the Parks on the river where we have been canoeing for 40 years.  It is fun, educational, and great exercise!  Spend a day with nature.  Just bring water, lunch, and a smile—we will do the rest.  We supply the canoes, kayaks, gear, training, and transportation.  Our experienced leaders teach the ways of currents and eddies and how to paddle mankind’s oldest craft, with a few new tricks.  Tell us what you want to learn—we are eager to teach.  Unless stated otherwise, all trips are suitable for ages 8 through adults.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.

 

CLINTON POND PADDLES

Saturday, April 8, Clinton Town parking lot off of Halstead Street & Water Street, ages 6 through adults, $25

Session A: 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM

Session B: 12:00PM to 2:00 PM

Paddle around the scenic “Clinton Pond”… past the lily pads, under the road bridge, past the historic Red Mill, up to the spillway of the Spruce Run Reservoir, and back.  Great for children ages six and up (with an adult), senior citizens, beginners, folks with special needs (please inform us in advance), or those with a hankering to take a leisurely paddle and commune with nature.

 

FLAT WATER PADDLE:  SUNSET PADDLE ON ROUND VALLEY RESERVOIR

Session A: Friday, June 16

Session B: Friday, July 14

Friday, July 17, 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM, Round Valley

Reservoir Boat Launch, ages 8 through adult, $25

Treat yourself to a leisurely evening sunset paddle.  The group will meet at Round Valley Reservoir Boat Launch (white van with green canoes).  Bring a flashlight and a jacket: it can get much cooler by the water after sunset.

 

PLANNING YOUR CANOE TRIP

Pre-register by the Wednesday before the trip.  Please note: Due to water levels or other circumstances beyond our control, leaders may choose an alternative river.  If we cancel the trip for any reason, we will call you as soon as we make the cancellation, but our trips run rain or shine!  Dress in layers so you can adjust to changing

temperatures.  Durable old clothes are best, especially wool and polypropylene fleece in cool weather.  Sneakers are recommended; no sandals, boots, or heavy shoes.  Bring lunch (packed in waterproof container), lots of water, sunscreen, a rain jacket, a hat, eyeglass strap, etc.  A complete change of clothing can be packed in a waterproof bag to be carried in your canoe or to be in the van for the trip’s end.  No alcoholic beverages.  No pets are allowed, except for guide animals.  We have several kayaks available, but can also accommodate your own kayak on many trips (at your own risk).

RIVER TRIPS

8:15 AM to about 3:30 PM, Arboretum, ages 8 through adults, $35

Your leaders will fit you with a lifejacket and paddle and then drive to the river, where they will discuss

maneuvering techniques and canoe safety.  Our leaders will guide you down the river.  We paddle for about two hours, stop for lunch, and paddle for about two more hours.  We are flexible with our time, which depends in part on natural forces, such as wind speed and the river’s water level.  Our aim is to return to the Arboretum by 3:30 PM, give or take an hour.

Krav Maga is a self-defense system that was developed for the Israeli Defense Forces. It consists of a wide combination of techniques sourced from aikido, judo, boxing, and wrestling, along with realistic fight training.  Krav Maga is known for its focus on real-world situations and efficient counter-attacks. Derived from street-fighting skills developed by martial artist Imi Lichtenfeld, Krav Maga has been refined for civilian, police and military applications.

Krav Maga encourages students to avoid confrontation. If this is impossible or unsafe, it promotes finishing a fight as quickly as possible.  Attacks are aimed at the most vulnerable parts of the body, and training drills provide maximum safety to students by the use of protective equipment and the use of reasonable force.

From an early age, we are ingrained with concepts such as stranger danger, bully defense, and college campus safety.  The tactics and self-defense techniques we teach are effective, and potentially lethal.  With that being said, respect is a life skill deeply valued by our certified instructors.  As such, our Krav Maga classes, as should all, promote the concept that a peaceful resolution should be the intention in any conflict situation. We take pride in preventing injuries; however, should a threat arise, our students are prepared.

Second Saturday is a workshop that demystifies the divorce process in a casual setting.  Instead of making a leap to a legal consulting session, participants take a small step to gather information.  The workshop covers legal, financial and mental health topics in thoughtful and compassionate ways.  Each area is led by a highly respected professional.  Workshop materials are thoughtfully designed with 25+ years of Second Saturday participant feedback around the country.
