The Pass in Rosemont, a local restaurant which has gained much acclaim since opening the doors in 2012, made the surprising announcement via their Facebook fan page on Wednesday, April 1st. Sadly, this was NOT an April Fool’s joke. Check out their message below:

Like the proverbial rolling stone that gathers no moss, chef Matthew Ridgway will be moving on to something new. Ridgway has committed to an attractive new opportunity in another city, which means The PASS restaurant in Rosemont, NJ,Matthew’s take on a French Roadhouse, will close this month.

After working as saucier in Philadelphia’s storied Fountain restaurant, Matt helped Jean-Marie Lacroix launch Lacroix at the Rittenhouse, and served as chef cuisine when the restaurant was named Esquire’s “Restaurant of the Year”. Matt served as chef de cuisine under James Beard Award-winning Chef Joël Antunes in both Atlanta and NYC, before launching an artisan charcuterie, PorcSalt, in 2009. In 2012 Matt opened his first restaurant, The PASS, in Rosemont NJ.

The PASS has received considerable critical acclaim and has quickly and consistently been recognized as one of the finest restaurants in NJ. The restaurant featured 50 entirely different prix fixe menus in it’s first year, followed by more than twenty different menus in year two. The PASS will have it’s final dinner service on Saturday, April 25.
